I’m trying to be a better human to my skin. I really am! If you look around my vanity area (see: floor, back of door and edge of dresser ha!) You’ll see that I have several beauty products that I can use to have a real skincare routine! I’d say sometimes I’m pretty great at keeping up with it, like I’ll successfully take care of my skin every day for a month or so. Then I’ll get busy and forget that I need to even try with my skin until it’s looking really sad, blotchy and acne. ACNE. Why am I still getting acne in my thirties? It’s because I don’t keep up with a skincare routine.

So I decided maybe if I made some reusable makeup pads I’d be more inclined to work on being consistent with my skincare routine. I’m no expert on beauty but I got a facial when I was pregnant and the girl told me that my routine (that I was very religious about at the time) was pretty spot on for what I should be doing but to also add toner. Here is what I do:

*Wash my face with Micellar Water (use cotton pad)- I like this because I’m prone to very dry skin year round so this helps combat that. I’ve even seen versions of micellar water that promote more moisture or are meant for dry skin types.
*Apply toner (use cotton pad) – tbh I had to just now google why you use toner. I just took her word for it. “Toner removes any last traces of dirt, grime and impurities stuck in your pores after you wash your face. … Toner also restores your skin’s pH level, smooths skin by refining rough patches and improves skin tone.” Thanks Neutrogena! I also just read that you can use toner 2 times a day, after each time you wash your face and before you use serums and moisturizers.
**Speaking of washing your face twice a day. I was the age I am now but only a few months ago when I realized/was told to wash my face in the morning and the evening. I didn’t know I should wash it after I woke up and washed it the night before. I also didn’t know why I didn’t just already do this as it makes sense.
*Under Eye Serum – I love how thick under eye serum is, it feels like it’s going to make my skin be amazing not only all day but for my whole life.
*Moisturizer – I *try* to wear moisturizer for daytime with SPF and I’m very good at wearing a night time cream. Like I stated before, I have very dry skin so this is a no-skip for me.

I’m not linking to any products for the beauty supplies because I think there’s a lot out there that is just as good as the next guy. I also do believe there are some not so great ones. I’d recommend looking up some best of lists before walking into an Ulta or Sephora because they might show you what they’ve been told to sell that day, and it might not be best for you on your budget etc. I’m not saying this is what happens all the time, in fact, I think it might actually happen very seldom but I’d rather you have done a little homework and know what you’re wanting to get. I’ve gotten some of mine at the drugstore, grocery store, Ulta and TJ Maxx so, I’m really all over the place!

To make your reusable makeup pads you’re going to need the following supplies:

Washcloths, Towels, Terry fabric etc
Flannel
Thread and various notions to complete a sewing project

To only make a few of these, say 9 you might really only need one washcloth and a small amount of flannel. I cut out 3″x3″ squares and laid them onto the washcloth to see how they’d fit. I guess I could have measured the washcloth and divided it out to make nine, but I really love how these turned out with the starting size of 3″x3″.

Then I cut out my squares, put them right sides facing together and sewed around 3 edges at a 1/4″ seam. A 1/4″ is the edge of my foot, and likely yours. (Not entirely sure it’s universal but I’m thinking it might be.)

Then flip the square right side out making sure to pull at the corners to make them more square and less round. Tuck in the seams that haven’t been sewn (top) and then sew around the edge 1/4″ seam or what you feel is necessary.

That’s it. Yeah. These are crazy easy to make! And since I bought several washcloths for this project I can make a lot of makeup remover pads. Since I had at least three different kinds of fabric I was pulling from I’m likely to gift between 9 and 18, 3-6 of each kind to my family and girlfriends and 9 is a good number if you’re only needing to use them once a day, but if you’re like me and use the micellar water you’re more likely to need at least 14 to get through a week before laundry day but might as well do two sets of 9!

I *might* have a sugar scrub coming up in the next day or two that would pair great with these as a gift! Don’t forget I also have a Coffee Scrub and lip balm how tos that would go great with these as a beauty gift set!

Also, I did crochet a quick little guy for a “I need to exfoliate gently” moment. Easy pattern, ch 8, 1 stitch from hook, single crochet – do that til end. Then ch 1, turn. repeat single crochet for each row ending with a ch 1 and turn. I worked until it was similar size to my wipes, probably about 8 rows.
