So to finish fixing the lift system we had to remove the front panel. To do this we had to remove the old cracked vinyl trim and then drill out the rivets. This page contains affiliate links to products. We may receive a commission for purchases made through these links.

Now we can remove the front panel to see what’s going on behind it and we found quite the surprise!

I don’t remember what kind of nest we decided it was but I know it was also deemed inactive for quite some time! Whew! Moving on, once we had the panel off and removed the nests we could see that the chain wasn’t tight at all which is what was making it hard to move the top up and down.

So we got it back on it’s tracks and put in the bearing plate!

And actually I think it’s the opposite order, we got the bearing plate put in and then we put the chain back on it’s track! As you can see I took this picture above before we put the whiffel tree rod back into it! The next steps were to get the cover back on, rivet, and put in fresh new vinyl trim. I got my trim on Amazon.

As far as the lift system goes that’s what we did! Now that it’s 2020 I can say with confidence that it’s been working great for 3 years and the vinyl trim still looks good too!

So that deal I was talking about for the bedsheets? Since it was well after the holidays (My picture date says February 19!) I was able to find some clearanced full size flannel sheets that would match the theme of our camper at Target! How great is that?

Next Monday we’ll start to go over how we repaired and finished up our roof inside and out! How are you guys liking the camper series so far? Let me know in the comments!
