I like, super love shark week. TBH sharks terrify me but as I live in Ohio, which is land locked with the exception of Lake Erie to my North and the Ohio river to my south I’m probably not destined to run into any shark encounters that aren’t at my local aquarium.

I am BEYOND excited to share todays craft with you! Other than my love of sharks and shark week I also am addicted to sweatshirts. I lovingly call all my sweatshirts, hoodies and sweaters, just sweaters. So for this sweater I only purchased a few items. I bought a grey hoodie from Amazon, I got a size larger than necessary thinking it might shrink but I really wanted to have a super cozy sweater. If I would have read the description I probably would have been given the heads up that it’s 50% cotton so it’s not gonna shrink which is great. I didn’t prewash because I was really excited to start and it wasn’t necessary.

The only other items you’ll need to create this shark sweater is a piece of 9×12”white felt and a piece of 9×12” red felt. Color matching thread, needle and scissors are also needed and I feel like if you’re here you didn’t need me to tell you that you needed those last three things but I figured I’d cover all the bases! Also pins for holding the mouth onto the sweater when sewing and then the teeth will be helpful.

I cut my red felt first, I made a basic mouth shape and folded it in half to get symmetry when cutting. If I turned the red felt upside down it looked like a smile!

Then I positioned it onto my sweater and pinned it in place, being careful to not poke myself or pin it to my clothing.

I chose to sew all my pieces for this sweater by hand because I found it relaxing and I wanted super control on where it was ending up on the sweater. I didn’t bother to make the stitches even or pretty since the white teeth would end up covering the edges of my sewing job. I also used a light blue thread instead of a red thread. I wasn’t aiming for perfection in this project at all, just fun!

I took my white felt and laid it on top of the sewn on red piece so I could cut out a slightly larger sized mouth so I could make teeth. I drew on the mouth and cut it out, then drew on the teeth. My goal with the teeth was to have them more straight up and down in the middle and get smaller and more angled as they go farther away from the middle.

I placed the teeth on top of the red mouth and pinned it in the top middle and started to sew there. I did work a little harder to have more even and consistent stitches. I left the teeth, pointy ends unsewn but I might see those down so they don’t get messed up.

As everyone in the world says, please ignore my dusty mirror, just admire my shark sweater! I don’t hate that the teeth kind of blend in the grey Heather but in hindsight I probably would have gotten a darker grey sweater for more contrast.

I do love how it turned out though!!! Onto the drink! I found it on Pinterest. Mine isn’t as picturesque but it was very delicious! It’s called shark bite!

You’ll need gummy sharks, ice, red Gatorade (mine was fruit punch) and sprite! Stack your sharks in the ice since they do not float and will go to the bottom, at least mine did!

Then I poured half sprite and then half Gatorade! Topped it with a gummy shark! Voila!

It is simple and delicious and I will continue making and drinking these during shark week! Or anytime I’m feeling fancy!

I Hope y’all enjoyed adult summer camp crafts! I do have one more craft but it kind of is a craft fail so I will try to encourage myself to post it and say where I think I went wrong. It was fun to make it wasn’t real fun waiting to see if it was going to be okay haha

I’m looking forward to wearing my shark sweater on my couch watching sharks, and wearing it while I run to the bank, and when I’m going to the grocery store, and a fall festival, and family gatherings. Just kidding, I bank online and pick up my groceries. I’m a millennial after all, what would you expect?!

If you loved this step by step post on making a shark sweater please consider buying me a coffee, it helps me keep running this blog in an ad free way! Thank you to all those who have already contributed!!

Xoxo – Robin
