Happy opening day friends! Here in Cincinnati we consider it a holiday! I’m writing this post today while the opening day parade goes by on the tv. It’s so fun to get swept up into all the fan fare and red everything.

Nine years ago I made this headband and it’s held up great over the years! I said then that I would write a pattern and today is the day!! This pattern is very basic and can be used to create a barrette, pin, button, embellishment, use your imagination! I like the headband version myself 😊

In the last row you will be decreasing and binding off

SSK, K1, begin BO, continue until one stitch on right hand needle and 2 stitches on left hand needle. K2tog then finish the BO

From here you can either crochet two chains to create the headband or you can knit 2 i-cords! In the picture below you can see that I crocheted two chains and then had them come together in the back to form one band with a double crochet. You have absolute freedom to finish off your headband however you want!! A choose your own adventure if you will 😌 For other headbands I’ve made I made two bands/strings whatever and tied them at the back of my head for a perfect fit every time.

Embellish your baseball with some red yarn to create the thread marks, you can even duplicate stitch your favorite ball players’ number or team on the baseball! You can see how professional my, “REDS” looks in the example pictures 🤪

If you loved this pattern, please consider buying me a coffee to help support this website for the free patterns and ad free experience! I can’t wait to see your baseball creations! Happy opening day friends!
