Y’all know I love a simple craft and this one is simple and can be done WAY before Christmas because it requires things you can buy at any time! I used peppermint candies but I believe you can use any hard candy if you’re wanting a solid other color- either circle candies or maybe jolly ranchers!

Supplies! Peppermint candies, metal cookie cutters (no plastic, you’re putting this in your oven!) cookie sheet, parchment paper

Go ahead and preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Now gather your candies and cookie cutters. Once you’ve placed your parchment paper on your cookie sheet you spray your cookie cutter with cooking oil and begin filling the cookie cutter with peppermint candies!

I found a good ornament is one that is slightly thick so I might stack the peppermint candy a little. Once they’re all filled you’ll place it in your oven for 3-5 minutes being careful to not leave it in there too long!! Also a side note, that heart cookie cutter was filled with sugar free peppermints and it didn’t work- it might have if it was in for less time but it melted WAY faster than the rest!

Haha oh well! The rest turned out great! While the candies are cooling in the cookie shapes you’ll want to poke holes for stringing a string through for hanging! It doesn’t take too long for them to cool and re-harden. I used a toothpick and a knife to make my holes! With the knife I twirled it on its point, kind of like drilling it into the candy.

To string a piece of yarn – or other string- through I actually just laid the yarn on top of the hole and used a toothpick to shove it though the hole. It worked! You could also use some thread and needle and attach your string that way. These ornaments only tend to last a season or two, which is fine by me, cause then I can have an excuse to make more! These make great gifts and I like including them in with the gift tags!

I hope y’all enjoyed this easy craft and participated in doing some Christmasy things this Christmas in July day! are you celebrating Christmas in July?
