So now that Dolly has newly painted cabinets and a fresh new canvas it was time to move onto the countertops and the table. I knew I wanted a new countertop because I wasn’t going to keep the gas stove. I thought a bit more counter space in such a small camper would be better!

We bought our materials at Menards, and I was able to find matching laminate countertops with a laminate sheet – which I didn’t know they made!

Our counter was just held on by a few screws so it was easy to remove. Once it was removed we also removed the sink since we were keeping it and my dad drew up a template to place onto the new laminate to cut out for the sink. Once the hole was cut out he used L brackets to attach the sink!

After this we just had to reinstall the countertop using the screw and brackets that were already in place. We also reattached the pull bar that is at the top – I use this as a towel rack when we’re in the camper! I was dreading this project but it was fairly straight forward once we started getting into!

For the table (apologies on no pictures of this process!) I sanded the top to give it a bit of grit so my glue would have something to hold onto. We cut the laminate sheet down to the exact size we needed with small amounts of play on all sides. Then, using construction adhesive to bond it all, we carefully laid the new laminate piece on top of the old top being very careful to get it to where we wanted it to go because we weren’t going to get a lot of re-dos because of our adhesive. Once it was on we trimmed the edges and replaced the T Molding on the sides since it was falling out.

But you can see here in the picture below that the table and the countertop both match!

And here’s a before and after so you can enjoy how much of an improvement this was!

Oh man, I forget all the time how far we’ve come with Dolly! Obviously I love the ‘after’!

Next week I’ll go over how we changed the swivel tongue jack and changed one of the tires to a lugnut system because it wasn’t a part of that. And I’ll share our spare tire cover that I made out of a table cloth!

See ya next Monday!

XOXO
