I love a good wildflower garden. I grew one a few years ago and it was my favorite thing! I loved going outside just to see what new bloom had popped and I really wanted to create one this year but I just didn’t get my timings right. I planned to craft with my wildflowers this year and pressing them and putting them onto jars was on the top of my must do craft list.
But I didn’t grow that garden this year. I did decide I wanted to move forward with this craft and I was like, it’s cool, I’ll just pick up a bouquet from the grocery store like the savage I am and press those flowers and use them. I’m so crafty. I can do anything. This was like 5 days ago. And when I googled how to press flowers because I had a general idea of putting them in a book I had no idea it could take weeks for them to fully press and dry. WHAT.
My Google search did lead me to learn that I could buy already pressed flowers. It wasn’t the wild child care free hippie craft I imagined because I ordered a pack to be overnighted to my house via Amazon, but I still got to do the craft so it’s still a win! And next year I can grow my garden and press my flowers weeks ahead of time and live my fairy cottage core life.

I already had the other materials on hand but you’ll need: jars, mod podge, paint brush or foam brush, and tea lights.
I also saw examples where people used glass containers they got from the thrift store or dollar store so this doesn’t have to become an expensive project!
To start this project go ahead and wash out your containers if you need to, then it’s as easy as brushing mod podge on your jar and placing your pressed flowers onto it!
I did like placing the green leaves first then adding in my color with the flowers, I think it made a really nice effect! In the picture example above these were placed on there, then I did another layer of mod podge on top. I mostly dabbed mod podge on so I wouldn’t move the flowers away from their spot.
Once you’re done it’ll take about 30 minutes to one hour for it to dry depending on how much mod podge you put on.
Once they were done I put in led tea lights and closed the lids! They looked really great at night time. Very hygge!
I think it’d be fun to make more of these and string them up somewhere for more of that cottage core ~ * a e s t h e t i c * ~ haha
For our drink pairing today I decided to basically make a Shirley Temple with a Twist. I did accidentally buy pitted cherries so I had to cut them up but I honestly think that made the drink better! You could easily add vodka to this for a tasty adult beverage version!
I filled in about 1/3 with ice and then (the same) 1/3 with Sprite. Filled to about 2/3 with lemonade and then filled to desired height with the grenadine. Admittedly I probably put in too much grenadine but it was sooo tasty. After that I added my cut up cherries! Yum!
