Happy (belated) National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day! April 2 is a delicious excuse to celebrate one of the most iconic food pairings of all time—and what better way to mark the occasion than with a brand-new free knitting pattern?
Introducing the PB&J Can Cozy: a playful little project featuring three rows of “bread slice” squares that are just begging for your creative toppings. Using duplicate stitch, you can personalize each square with peanut butter, jelly, or both! I even gave one peanut butter square a cute little embroidered face and had it holding hands with another embroidered face jelly square—because, of course, they’re besties.
This cozy fits a standard 12 oz can and is knit in the round, making it a quick and fun way to use up scrap yarn while adding some charm to your next picnic, lunch break, or cozy night in.

Some Fun PB&J Facts to Spread Around:
• The average American will eat around 3,000 PB&J sandwiches in their lifetime. That’s a lot of peanut butter—and we’re not mad about it.
• Peanut butter was originally considered a protein source for people without teeth. Jelly came along later to sweeten the deal!
• The first recipe for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich appeared in 1901, in the Boston Cooking School Magazine of Culinary Science and Domestic Economics. (What a mouthful!)
• During WWII, PB&J was a staple in U.S. military rations, and its popularity exploded post-war.
